“We are brothers”: 7-year-old boy found a cat with the same special eyes as his

7-year-old Madden from Oklahoma was born with a harelip and heterochromia (different colored eyes), and some thought the boy might be teased for his unique appearance. Fortunately, he found a way to stand up to such people.

“Last week, a friend in our group of mothers of children with harelip posted a picture of a cat. This kitten was adopted from a Minnesota rescue,” said Madden’s mom, Christina Humphreys. – We knew immediately that this kitten had to be part of our family.

Not only does he have a jinxed lip like our 7-year-old son Madden, he has heterochromia like Madden. They were destined to be best friends. It’s funny how having a pet can make you feel less alone.”

For Madden, finding Moon is a true miracle.

Everything about this friendship between shelter cat Moon and 7-year-old boy Madden is unusual.

Both were born with a harelip defect and with a rare eye disease called heterochromia, which occurs in only 1% of the world’s population.

“I’m amazed at how things have turned out,” Madden’s mother says. – It seems ridiculous, but fate has brought the two together.”

And although Madden is only seven years old, he’s been through a lot. He’s already undergone six surgeries.

“I hope this story can help kids with harelip as people learn more about it,” he said.

“We are also full of faults, like any other human being, but we always try to be kind to others,” the boy’s mother concluded.
