The local beach where a woman named Jolie Mehía comes with her family will tell us a story about love in its purest form, about the suffering that animals feel just like humans. A small dog stared out at the open sea, oblivious to the presence of humans. Even shouts did not distract its attention. The dog just sat and watched the rough sea. This motivated Mehía and her family even more to get to the bottom of the matter and get the dog on their side. They wanted to get his attention at any cost!
They settled down by the sea and kept quiet so as not to disturb the dog’s peace.
“He didn’t seem abandoned. He had a necklace around his neck and his fur was clean,” Mehía said.
“I petted him and waited for his owner, but minutes passed without anyone coming.
Even long after they arrived, the dog did not take his eyes off the sea, only glancing over at them now and then, but then turning his attention back to the sea.
Mehía wanted to know what it was all about and waited for a local to come to the beach to find out more about whose dog it was and why it was watching the sea so long and so intently. She wanted to take it herself, but she also didn’t want to hurt anyone by taking the pet away.
Finally, one of the locals explained to her what it was all about.
“He explained that practically everyone in the area knows the dog and loves it very much,” Mehía said.
“He told us that the dog’s owner was a fisherman who passed away some time ago, and that the dog comes to the beach every day and stares at the sea.”
The dog waited so faithfully for his friend to return, never suspecting that moment would never come again.
“We were very touched,” Mehía said.
Mehía also found out that this dog had been on the beach every day for almost a year! This shocked them all. All the locals take care of this dog, feed it, look after it, but all of them also respect its decision to spend its time on the beach staring at the sea.
The local vet confirmed that the dog’s name is Vaguito. Mrs Mehía, like the other locals, did not want to change anything. They gave up on the idea of taking him with them because they thought his heart would suffer even more if he thought his friend was about to come, if only they didn’t take him away from the beach.
That evening they said goodbye to him, amazed at the dog’s love for man and especially at the loyalty that surpassed everything.
“I have a dog at home, I love dogs in general. His story really touched me,” said Mehía.
