Family Dog Voluntarily Joins Little Owner During Timeout to Keep Him Company

Dogs are not only man’s best friends, but they also form great bonds with children. Can you imagine a dog willing to join his 3-year-old friend during a timeout to keep him company? Real friends go through good and bad times together, play together, and stand by each other when one is reprimanded by parents.

When an Ohio mother put her son on timeout for hitting his sister, she never expected their family dog to join him. Jillian Marie Smith gave Peyton, her three-year-old son, two options: to remain in his room or take a timeout. Peyton chose the latter.

But then something remarkable happened. Dash, the family’s English mastiff dog, came over to join the boy during his timeout. Dash stood next to Peyton, and the little boy wrapped his arm around his furry friend. Dash just didn’t want his boy to be alone.

Smith observed this touching moment and took a photo. She shared the photo on Facebook with the caption, “When you’re in timeout but your best friend won’t let you serve your time alone.”

Smith speculated that Dash sensed Peyton’s loneliness. Dash has been at Peyton’s side since the little boy was three months old and has provided a lot of pleasure to the family, particularly to Peyton.

Many pet owners responded to Smith’s photo, which has been shared over 51,000 times, saying that their dogs do the same thing. Dash and Peyton are always together, and when Smith can’t locate her son, she just searches for their dog’s whereabouts.
