Engaging in animal rescue and recovery is never an easy task. You will be able to come face to face with the harsh reality of human cruelty.
The unimaginable pain that humans inflict on these innocent animals can be heartbreaking.
As harsh as it may be, this reality will not stop these people who want to help and save animals in need, writes natureknows.org
In fact , it drives them to their sole purpose – to save voiceless animals from cruel humans. This rescue story is about a 73-year-old elephant named Sook Jai.
All her life she had to work hard and was mistreated. Sook Jai became old and weak and her body could no longer take the abuse.
During her life in captivity, she was given to different owners for different jobs. The elephant had been forced to work in tourist trekking and street begging, but her health deteriorated as she grew older. She became blind and almost lost her hearing.
GREAT enthusiasts at Elephant Nature Park heard about the situation and helped the elephant
The sanctuary (which is affiliated with the Save Elephant Foundation) is located in Thailand.
In the video description, they share:
“Sook Jai was lucky to be found by a caring soul who wanted to help change her life. She was doubly lucky when Joan Baez decided to help SookJai live the rest of her life free from cruelty.”
Rescuers prepared for several hours to Sook Jai to save the elephant.. The 73-year-old elephant was not in a healthy condition when they were first taken into her care. Many wounds were found on her head and body from the abuse she had suffered.
During the long drive, the rescuers worked to help for SookJai and make sure she was comfortable.
Although they could see that the poor creature was hungry – she refused to eat. She was tired, exhausted and didn’t know what kind of life was just around the corner.
They were like her angels on earth. The Elephant Nature Park team warmed the truck when it was cold and cooled the elephant when it was hot.
Probably Sook Jai was not used to being treated so kindly.
At one point during the trip, an emotional moment was captured on film.
It was a beautiful but painful moment of an elephant was finally freed.
A poor, helpless elephant who had been worked and mistreated all her life, but now she knew where she was. She knew she had been rescued.
Sook Jai began to cry.
In the video the elephant can be seen with real tears rolling down her face. It is a sight that pulls at hearts. One viewer wrote:
“I cried my soul out when the I saw her crying and wagging her trunk. She knows she is free now. Please save and rescue more and more elephants, together we can do this!”
Sook Jai has arrived at her loving home.
Towards the end of the video, the truck stops at the sanctuary after her long journey.
Although the blind elephant can’t really see her new home, she soon figures out what it’s all about-living in peace.
They end the video by saying, “Her life will be without restrictions. She will remain free, as she deserves.”
It’s a rescue story that touches the hearts of people around the world. But it’s not the only one. The YouTube channel elephantnews has numerous videos showing their work at Elephant Nature Park.
