Miguel Ángel Escobar, a fisherman who spends every spare minute on the magical shores of Honduras, had a very unusual experience that made him a hero!
Miguel Ángel Escobar and his family were out on a boat on the coast when they saw a sight that scared them. They discovered a large sea turtle caught in tree roots from which it could not get out.
“I thought she was dead,” Escobar said. “We felt so sorry for her.”
However, the turtle was not dead! They found that out when they approached it. Their conscience persuaded them to go and see how it was doing. And it was the best decision they could have made!
Escobar suspects that after coming ashore to lay her eggs, the turtle got caught in a root as she crossed an embankment on the coast.
Fortunately, they arrived in time, although she was standing motionless but still alive.
“When I touched her, she immediately sighed and started moving her head,” Escobar said.
Using a knife, Escobar began to cut off the root and held the turtle until roots was weak enough to break.
After saving its life, the good man could no longer contain his joy and pride at his good deed. His wife captured the moment. In the following video you can see the turtle being saved:
In an instant, the once lifeless turtle turned into a ball of energy.
“I thought the turtle would have to rest on the shore to regain its strength,” Escobar said. “But it swam off immediately, strong and fast, like someone jumping for joy”.
After the turtle was given a second chance at life, she went into the deep sea.
“I’m glad I was able to help her,” Escobar said. “It’s a great feeling.”
