Meet Kookie: The Delightfully Dappled House Hippo in Search of a Loving Home
Prepare to be captivated by the adorable presence of Kookie, a charming dapple-spotted lady who has been patiently awaiting her forever home for far too long. Despite her irresistible appearance, Kookie has experienced a tumultuous journey through multiple family members’ homes since 2021, leading her back to the Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) in Tucson, where she currently resides.
Previous descriptions of Kookie highlight her energetic and playful nature, as she has successfully coexisted with dogs of all sizes and even interacted well with young children as young as two years old. In one particular home, she was even praised for being housebroken. However, due to the hectic environment that did not suit her needs, she found herself back at PACC, longing for stability and a place to call her own.
At just three years old, Kookie has spent a significant portion of her youth within the shelter’s walls. This silly and rambunctious lady now yearns for a loving home where she can finally relax, unwind, and claim all the coziest spots as her own. In her optimistic view, she fancies herself a petite lap dog, and it would be best to let her cherish that illusion until she finds her perfect forever home.
Numerous shelter volunteers have shared heartwarming accounts of their experiences with Kookie. From successful hikes and joyful encounters with children to her bouncy and affectionate nature, it is evident that she thrives when given the opportunity to be a cherished member of a loving family. Kookie’s playful interactions with other dogs during playgroup evaluations further demonstrate her sociability and tolerance.
PACC, currently facing critical capacity issues, has been forced to create a euthanasia list due to the overwhelming number of dogs in need. Kookie and many others are on this list, representing a distressing situation that shelters nationwide are unfortunately grappling with. Although it is a challenging reality, there are ways we can make a difference. Consider fostering these deserving animals temporarily until the crisis subsides.
If you are interested in adopting Kookie, who is already spayed, up to date on shots, and weighs approximately 69 pounds, please reach out to pacc.adopt@pima.gov for an application or additional information. You can find her in Kennel D195, and her ID# is A755929.
Let’s come together and make a positive impact on the lives of these animals in need. Remember, even small acts of compassion can create significant change.
