Novak Djokovic has made it official: he will not be participating in the Miami Masters! After his return to America following several years, Djokovic’s stint at Indian Wells wasn’t as successful as hoped. Despite advancing to the second round, he faced elimination in the third round after losing to Luka Nardi. Speculation immediately arose regarding his potential withdrawal from the Miami tournament, and now it’s been confirmed.
Taking to social media, Djokovic addressed the situation succinctly in a single sentence. He expressed regret over missing out on competing in Florida but highlighted the delicate balance between personal and professional commitments at this stage of his career. “Hello Miami! Unfortunately, I will not play the Miami Open this year. At this stage of my career, balancing my personal and professional schedule. I’m sorry that I won’t be able to experience one of the best and most passionate fans in the world. I’m looking forward to performing at the Miami Open in the future,” wrote Novak Djokovic.
Miami holds a special place in Djokovic’s career, having claimed his first title there in 2007 and his record-breaking sixth in 2016. His absence since 2019, when he was ousted in the fourth round by Roberto Bautista Agut, marks his return to his family.
Following Miami, Djokovic’s focus shifts to the clay season, which holds significant importance this year. Alongside his quest for another Roland Garros title and continuation of his Grand Slam success, he also eyes victory at the Olympic Games in Paris.
