Cop saves donkey from busy highway, drives it safety in patrol car

A rather extraordinary encounter unfolded for Robin Strader during her routine commute to work in Norman, Oklahoma, when she spotted an unexpected traveler along the highway: a donkey. Uncertain about the best course of action but driven by a desire to assist, she decided to reach out to the authorities, placing a call to the Norman Police Department.

Officer Kyle Canaan from the Norman Police Department responded to the unusual report. By the time he arrived at the scene, Robin had already managed to coax the donkey out of harm’s way. It was clear that this was no ordinary day on the job, and neither of them was entirely sure how to handle the situation.

A heartwarming twist soon emerged as Robin expressed her intent to provide a home for the donkey. In a delightful turn of events, the donkey, who would soon be known as “Squishy,” found himself a new and caring guardian.

Transporting Squishy to his new home presented a logistical challenge. Waiting for a suitable vehicle would have taken precious time. Taking matters into his own hands, Officer Kyle made the unconventional but heartfelt decision to load Squishy into the backseat of his patrol car.

The Norman Police Department noted that their officers frequently find themselves contending with unexpected and unique situations while on duty, and Squishy’s highway adventure was a prime example of this.

In the end, despite a minor hiccup (or should we say plop?), everything transpired remarkably well. Squishy was safely relocated, thanks to the dedication and quick thinking of Officer Kyle Canaan, who not only maintained the peace but also ensured the safety and well-being of an unlikely but cherished passenger.
