The donkey spots his new dad and can’t help but wag his tail like a happy dog!

When you think of a pet, your mind probably goes straight to a dog or a cat. But it’s rare to hear someone say, “A donkey is man’s best friend.” That’s because donkeys aren’t exactly common household pets.

However, love between a human and their pet isn’t defined by the type of animal—it’s about the connection, loyalty, and companionship they share. And in this heartwarming story, a donkey named Walter proves just how deep that bond can be.

Walter found his forever home in Oatman, Arizona, where he was taken in by a loving family. He was raised alongside three German Shepherds and quickly began mimicking their behavior. It’s astonishing—he acts just like one of the dogs!

From the moment he joined the family, Walter fit right in. He wagged his tail with joy, lounged around with his canine siblings, and even playfully jumped on his dad’s head. His dog-like behavior brought endless smiles to the family.

Walter’s human dad, Brad Blake, shared, “We never could have guessed how much Walter would enrich our lives!”

What started as an unusual adoption turned into a powerful friendship built on affection and trust. Walter beams with happiness, clearly cherishing the love and care he receives—something he may have never known before.

It’s heartening to witness this kind of joy. Animals, no matter their species, thrive on love—and they have an incredible way of giving it back.

This kind of genuine connection reminds us of the beauty of kindness in our world.
